Mystery Behind Adam Bridge/Rama’s Setu

Mystery Behind Adam Bridge/Rama’s Setu

“Adam’s Bridge also known as Rama’s Bridge or Rama Setu is a chain of limestone shoals, between Pamban Island, also known as Rameswaram Island, off the southeastern coast of Tamil Nadu, India, and Mannar Island, off the northwestern coast of Sri Lanka. Geological evidence suggests that this bridge is a former land connection between India and Sri Lanka.

The bridge is 18 miles (30 km) long and separates the Gulf of Mannar (southwest) from the Palk Strait (northeast). Some of the sandbanks are dry and the sea in the area is very shallow, being only 3 ft to 30 ft (1 m to 10 m) deep in places, which hinders navigation. [ It was reportedly passable on foot up to the 15th century until storms deepened the channel: temple records seem to say that Rama’s Bridge was completely above sea level until it broke in a cyclone in 1480 CE.

The earliest map that calls this area Adam’s bridge was prepared by a British cartographer in 1804, probably referring to an Islamic legend, according to which Adam used the bridge to reach Adam’s Peak in Sri Lanka, where he stood repentant on one foot for many hundred years, leaving a large hollow mark resembling a footprint. Both the peak and the bridge are named after this legend.

This bridge has been one of the most interesting one ‘whether this structure is natural or manmade.

I am not taking away any Credit whether it was built by Rama with the help of Vanara Sena [Monkey’s army] to reach Sri Lanka to fight against demon King Ravana or it is naturally created or some other person constructed it. This is just a 30 KMS Long Bridge, Almighty Allah [God] has given us more superior Brain compares to all his creation. So we have already reach Moon and Now planning to go Planet Mars. Constructing 30 Kms long bridge was not a big deal.

British, French, Spanish, Portuguese crosses 7 Seas or Ocean and travelled thousands of miles in order to reach India,

Brothers and Sisters

If Hanuman had got super natural power to alter his size and according to legend as stated above that he had already tried to ate the Sun when he was just a child. The diameter of Sun is 1.4 million kilometer, In order to eat sun, Hanuman has to increase his mouth size more 1.4 million kilometer, If the above legend is true, Then why Rama had to build the bridge between India and srilanka,

If even Hanuman could increased his body size and put his finger tip on sea between India and Sri Lanka, itself be enough for Rama and Vanara sena to cross the Sea between two countries

According to the legend Hanuman is capable of flying. So he could just increase his body size and could took Rama and Vanara Sena in just Palm of one hand and easily flown to Sri Lank.

If Hanuman had not got any super power then Ram himself may just built a huge boat or some large size boats with help of Varana Sena and easily crossed 30 Kms long Sea.[Because In Mastya Purana Vishnu already had constructed the huge Boat to help Vaivasvata Manu in order to sea save Humanity]”

  1. If u ppl don believe in legends or epics den jus stay dumb…… don try to mislead or look down upon ppl who believe in it……………. don hurts the sentiments of the the several jus for the sake of ur ignorance……….

    • Hi Karthika, I agree the way you say about sentiments. I am a converted hindu. My parents used to follow jainism and now they are hindus, My query with you is- In mahabharat, when pandavas did wrong with her wife druapati, They fixed her in gambling. God krishna has supprted. Thou pnadavas were wrong, why did god supported them?

      • Because God ( Krishna) wanted them to inherit the earth and no one else. It is not for us to question God’s plan or purpose, he is the decider of the path of our lives.
On the Battlefield before the Kurukshtra war, he told Arjun, “Don’t think that you are going to war, It is me who is driving your chariot, I am leading you to war. Do your duty as a Warrior, and follow your birthright, I will take care of everything else”
We might think we are in control, of our lives, that is a fallacy, illness, disease, health, wealth longevity none of these are in our hands, who controls them? God has given us freedom to choose whether we believe in him or follow him or reject him, that is is his greatness and kindness on the human race.

      • The game of gamble was played by Yudhisthir; who is known to be always righteous. The rule of the game was you can not leave the game untill you have something to bet; and obviously that was Draupadi. Now your question is why did God (Krishna) supported it. He never supported it he was not present there he saved Draupadi. And for this sin (betting Draupadi) Yudhisthir had to go to hell for one day; that’s another story.

      • You idiot, dumb. The religion you believe in, where is that come from? One can say the same crap about your religion and no doubt that lots of others say so, around the world. Think about yourself, this is what you have learn from your elders and ancestor… No surprise that the way you express your view about others, is actually your own way dealing with the world. Can’t expect more than that from you. You people are the big scum of the world. Even parasites deserves more respect than you. There is no such place called hell, the way you people live is the way literally living in hell. God bless us all to keep us away from at least one scum called Vora.

      • Vic, ok so i read ur reply twice but i found out u have nothing to argue. U just threw out ur frustration. U dont have any strong evidences and arguments to put on. Though i appreciate spirit to defend ur religion but i dont appreciate the way u did. get some references which are worldwide accepted/adopted. And yes calling me a scum does not gonna save ur religion. Its gonna end.

  2. When I say I want to achieve something larger than the world, that does not mean I want something bigger than diameter of the earth. Its very simply understood. Its just a metaphor. To eat Sun in child hood means achieved very big successes in childhood. Have a bigger thinking perspective and think in unbiased manner. You need to think out of your religion to understand Hinduism.

  3. U Are Here Just To Spoil The Image Of The Oldest Religion, Bloody Loosers

      • E basic reason Leave myths alone just explin me his for which I am seeking answer read carefully & understand it

Like a holy book most of the countries of the world have constituton isn’t it. In if I am not wrong particular sin has particular punishment if it is proven with proof or evidence and thoer is one more thing atleast written in indian consitution punishment can would given to a particular person who have commited it and none other even other person is ready to accept the punishment in every conditon and in full & clear presense of mind. If the you agree in it fully which truth whish cannot be changed. Then just explain to me please I said pls explain

An infant is born unhealty which means physically or mentally the basic reason behind it. As mntion above child is unhealty but parents are young ,good looking, intelligient, rich, famous & most imp of good health. Just explain to me just why as per your holy book.

  4. Hinduism is the only “religion” that allows you to see God the Almighty in whatever shape of form you desire, , whether it is as a King, a servant, a Friend, a lover, husband, wife, Monkey, animal, Human. If you look at anything on this planet, you will see the beauty and mysteriousness of the infinite. Religions are made for the those people who are Godless and cannot see the infinite, they are for those who are without discipline and cannot comprehend that there is a greater truth out there than themselves.Picking out defects in any religion can be done by any scholar and holes can be found as above described, but that does not mean God does not exist, it is just how this is represented or believed by those who wish to follow a particular faith.
I am proud to be Hindu and follow the teachings as best as I can, stories are there to focus your mind.

    • Wow man
definitely u are among the ones who just DONT want to face the truth.

I am not here to abuse anyone or to offend you with my comments.
, all i want is to ask you just few questions.
i apologize if my comment hurts somebody’s sentiments.

Why is it so difficult/hard for u people to check your authentic sacred books as Vedas, Upanishads etc.
Why you people always neglect the teachings of your Vedas and perform the idol worship.
Are the pandits More superior than the VEDAS?

This is what your Bhagvat Gita Says

“Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigods and follow the particular rules and regulations of worship according to their own natures.”
      [Bhagavad Gita 7:20]

      this is what Upanishads say

      1. “Ekam evadvitiyam”
“He is One only without a second.”
      [Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1]1

      3. “Na tasya pratima asti”
“There is no likeness of Him.”
      [Svetasvatara Upanishad 4:19]3

      4. The following verses from the Upanishad allude to the inability of man to imagine God in a particular form:

“Na samdrse tisthati rupam asya, na caksusa pasyati kas canainam.”

“His form is not to be seen; no one sees Him with the eye.”

Yet You people won’t believe this.
You are yet afraid to accept the truth but that will lead you to nowhere but to the hell fire.

      and Atharvaveda.

      1. Yajurveda
The following verses from the Yajurveda echo a similar concept of God:

      1. “na tasya pratima asti”
“There is no image of Him.”
      [Yajurveda 32:3]5

      2. “shudhama poapvidham”
      “He is bodyless and pure.”
      [Yajurveda 40:8]6

      3. “Andhatama pravishanti ye asambhuti mupaste”
“They enter darkness, those who worship the natural elements” (Air, Water, Fire, etc.). “They sink
deeper in darkness, those who worship sambhuti.”
      [Yajurveda 40:9]7

      4. Sambhuti means created things, for example table, chair, idol, etc.

The Yajurveda contains the following prayer:
“Lead us to the good path and remove the sin that makes us stray and wander.”
      [Yajurveda 40:16]8

      2. Atharvaveda

The Atharvaveda praises God in Book 20, hymn 58 and verse 3:
      1. “Dev maha osi”
      “God is verily great”
      [Atharvaveda 20:58:3]9

      3. Rigveda
      1. The oldest of all the vedas is Rigveda. It is also the one considered most sacred by the Hindus.
The Rigveda states in Book 1, hymn 164 and verse 46: “Sages (learned Priests) call one God by many
      names.”
      [Rigveda 1:164:46]

      2. The Rigveda gives several different attributes to Almighty God. Many of these are mentioned in
      Rigveda Book 2 hymn 1.

Among the various attributes of God, one of the beautiful attributes mentioned in the Rigveda Book II hymn 1 verse 3, is Brahma. Brahma means ‘The Creator’. Translated into Arabic it means Khaaliq. Muslims can have no objection if Almighty God is referred to as Khaaliq or ‘Creator’ or Brahma. However if it is said that Brahma is Almighty God who has four heads with each head having a crown, Muslims take strong exception to it.

Describing Almighty God in anthropomorphic terms also goes against the following verse of Yajurveda:

      “Na tasya Pratima asti”
“There is no image of Him.”
      [Yajurveda 32:3]

Another beautiful attribute of God mentioned in the Rigveda Book II hymn 1 verse 3 is Vishnu. Vishnu means ‘The Sustainer’. Translated into Arabic it means Rabb. Again, Muslims can have no objection if Almighty God is referred to as Rabb or ‘Sustainer’ or Vishnu. But the popular image of

9[Atharveda Samhita vol 2 William Dwight Whitney page 910]

Vishnu among Hindus, is that of a God who has four arms, with one of the right arms holding the Chakra, i.e. a discus and one of the left arms holding a ‘conch shell’, or riding a bird or reclining on a snake couch. Muslims can never accept any image of God. As mentioned earlier this also goes against Svetasvatara Upanishad Chapter 4 verse 19.

      “Na tasya pratima asti”
“There is no likeness of Him”

The following verse from the Rigveda Book 8, hymn 1, verse 1 refer to the Unity and Glory of the Supreme Being:

      3. “Ma cid anyad vi sansata sakhayo ma rishanyata”
“O friends, do not worship anybody but Him, the Divine One. Praise Him alone.”
      [Rigveda 8:1:1]10

      4. “Devasya samituk parishtutih”
“Verily, great is the glory of the Divine Creator.”
      [Rigveda 5:1:81]11

      Brahma Sutra of Hinduism:

The Brahma Sutra of Hinduism is:

“Ekam Brahm, dvitiya naste neh na naste kinchan”

“There is only one God, not the second; not at all, not at all, not in the least bit.”

Thus only a dispassionate study of the Hindu scriptures can help one understand the concept of God in Hinduism.

      • Good pick and i believe in an infinite One, let’s say God. But in my opinion it’s really immaterial though which figure you are worshiping, since at heart you are offering the prayer to the One, be it in your ignorance. God does not punish you for your ignorance.

  5. I think you have a very interesting point! Why didn’t hanuman just increased his size and let them cross over!! On top of that it clearly says hanuman ate the sun, it’s not a metaphor, it actually means what it says. It was probably written that way because they had no idea how big the sun was since it appears to be so small in the sky!! Ramayan is a work of fiction with no facts, it’s nothing but a myth!!

    • Fact or fiction, who really knows? The point is that there are significant moral lessons lessons on how to lead a life. How to be a good son, father, mother, husband and citizen of this world.
This is no different from any other religion in this world!
Weather you believe in one God or many, there is no difference except in the way you are perceived by other people. It is your actions with other human beings that mark you out as a good or bad person

      • movies teach us same way, so are movies real? those are also myth to teach us something! then u should believe in all religions because all teaches us same!

  6. HINDUISM ALREADY MISLEAD…..SO MANY CORRUPTION. THERE IS NO UNIFORMITY IN HINDU RELIGION…USING MATHEMATICAL REASONING…IF GOD IS FORMLESS, SHAPELESS THEN WHY GOD COME IN HUMAN FORM?…THE HINDUS ACTUALLY SO MUCH ARROGANT BY TELLING THEIR RELIGION WAS ETERNAL…NEVER ACCEPT THE GOD IS ONLY ONE. IF U ASK CHRISTIAN WHO IS THEIR GOD, THEY SAID JESUS…IF ISLAM WILL SAID ALLAH IN SECOND..BUT IN HINDUISM, IF WE ASK WHO IS GOD THERE WILL BE THOUSAND EVEN MILLION GOD NAME WITH THEIR FORM TAKE YEARS TO ANSWER….HMMM…UNTIL NOW IN HINDU COMMUNITY , THEY STILL DEBATING THE ONE GOD. OBVIOUSLY THE HINDU PEOPLE SO MUCH IGNORANT AND ARROGANT…GOD ALREADY GIVE THE MESSAGE…EASY AND UNDERSTANDABLE. UNDER POWER OF GOD…WE ARE NOTHING. SO DONT INSULT AND BELIEVE BLINDLY. BOW TO THE ONE GOD…

    • I have a life and it is steeped in the belief that anything is possible with God on your side, you just have to have faith, which clearly some people who comment on this page do not!! That is their choice. I have made mine and am very happy with it.

  7. U know why Hanuman did not increased his body size and took lord Rama to lanka?
You know when Hanuman went to lanka alone to meet Sita , Hanuman forced to sita to go back with him but Sita denied to do this bcz she wanted her husband (lord Rama ) should come Lanka and do battle with Ravan as a common king and by winning war she would go back. sita had herself the power that no one could have touched her but she didn’t use her power bcz she wanted to destroy the kingdom of evil Ravan.
Even each and every member of Vaanar sena has the same power to demolish lanka at once.
My request to the people who raise their finger on Hindu religion they should know about it completely otherwise you will provoke to us to abuse you.

  9. Concept of God according to Hindu Scriptures:

We can gain a better understanding of the concept of God in Hinduism by analysing Hindu scriptures.

    BHAGAVAD GITA:

The most popular amongst all the Hindu scriptures is the Bhagavad Gita.

Consider the following verse from the Gita:

“Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigods and follow the particular rules and regulations of worship according to their own natures.”
    [Bhagavad Gita 7:20]

The Gita states that people who are materialistic worship demigods i.e. ‘gods’ besides the True God.

    UPANISHADS:

The Upanishads are considered sacred scriptures by the Hindus.

The following verses from the Upanishads refer to the Concept of God:

    1. “Ekam evadvitiyam”
“He is One only without a second.”
    [Chandogya Upanishad 6:2:1]1

    2. “Na casya kascij janita na cadhipah.”

    THE VEDAS
Vedas are considered the most sacred of all the Hindu scriptures. There are four principal Vedas: Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samveda and Atharvaveda.

Thus only a dispassionate study of the Hindu scriptures can help one understand the concept of God in Hinduism.

as from the sun.” The Prophecy confirms:

    1. The name of the Prophet as Ahmed since Ahmed is an Arabic name. Many translators misunderstood it to be ‘Ahm at hi’ and translated the mantra as “I alone have acquired the real wisdom of my father”.

    2. Prophet was given eternal law, i.e. the Shariah.

    3. The Rishi was enlightened by the Shariah of Prophet Muhammad. The Qur’an says in Surah Saba Chapter 34 verse 28 (34:28):

“We have not sent thee but as a universal (Messenger) to men, giving them glad tidings and warning them (against sin), but most men understand not.”

    • Jab tum mante ho ki vedo main tumhare muhamad sahab ki jankari di gayi hai to fir ved bhi tumhare pujya hue .

To fir madarchod unki hansi kyun udata hai.

  10. Dear all, what is that we are trying to prove.? That a billion people are foolish or that your religion is superior? If you guys are suffering from any sort of complex, you should see a doctor.

There are followers of every religion and Hindus dont have any single God, like Allah or Jesus is that a problem that you fail to understand or is it a logic you can’t vomprehend because it is alien to you. If for eg you are born and raisef by parents who trash you for every little disobedience and rules… is it a mistake if another parent to nurture a child with love? Your understanding of this simple principle may put to rest the effort you are taking to malign Hinduism. For a fact yhere are no rules and rigidity to this religion, a man/ woman free to persue his/her path to salvation.

maybe once Hinduism becomes a template like islam, christianity or buddhism a lot many hindus would become disillusioned, since it takes away our right to seek the higher truth and perfection and learn from our journey… god bless all of you any of the 32 million that you believe in, at the end of the day Godliness should provide us peace and salvation, do fear my friend in your quest to claim upmanship are you forgetting to worship your creator ( who ever he maybe out of the 32 million Gods that you talk about)… I am sure when you meet your creator I am sure he doesnt care about your slander or bad mouthing some one elses believe, he sees if you have worshipped him with all youe heart and soul and set your women and free to persue a life without enslaving them with your slander and mudslinging.

For none of us have seen the after-life… for all you know God must be a she who welcomes you with open arms and pat you on your head for being a “brawdy kid” with a pompous head and a grain of brain…

All the 32 million Gods may just be too cool hanging out on a grassy meadow tending to sheep and watching a interesting game… being loud and noisy, cheerung for their team.. like most men do.. than gossip around about which God is right, real or impure….cheers my weary soul… take a chill pill go to church or do your namaz and relax… your time will come and you will see and I promise you brother it would be a beautiful sight to behold… an ordinary mortal meeting the creator…

  11. Hi Vora,
